Sabra Lewis

Sabra took a highly unusual path to the wine world. She came to New York City as a dancer and found success as a Radio City Rockette and on Broadway in the productions of The Phantom of the Opera and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. She also performed at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center and the national tour of Spamalot, performing in over 2,500 shows over her ten-year career. It was during this time that she first discovered the magic of great wine and food shared across the table with friends and acquaintances.

Those wine moments increasingly found their way into her time as a performer - most notably in a 2004 trip to Italy. The old-world charm and humble nature of how wine was consumed captivated Sabra.

It was fortuitous that near the end of her performing career in 2010, Sabra was introduced to her first wine mentor, who helped her make this radical career change. Sabra dove into wine study at the International Wine Center (WSET) and The Court of Master Sommeliers.

Sabra worked as a sommelier under the tutelage of Pascaline Lepeltier (MOF) at Rouge Tomate and Thomas Pastuszak at the Michelin-starred NoMad Hotel. She spent every vacation traveling to wine regions to deepen her knowledge and forge relationships with the people behind the bottles.

Sabra evolved into a buyer and wine director, running several preeminent NYC establishments, including two Michelin-starred L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, famed omakase restaurant Shuko, and the 10,000 bottle cellar of The Standard - High Line.

In 2014, Sabra founded her consulting company, Lewis and Co. Sommelier Services, after a recognizing the needs of her ‘regulars’ to develop their cellars. Sabra’s company vision is to facilitate the wine education of her clients and help them get more pleasure and utility from their wine cellars. She derives great joy in sharing her enthusiasm and passion for wine, food and other fine hedonistic pleasures.

In 2021, Sabra co-founded Société des Amis du Champagne with three partners as a members-only Champagne Society, producing ten iconic annual events for 100 thought leaders. Sabra is the Chair of the Wine Committee and curates the society’s champagne cellar. In 2022, Sabra and her partners were intronized as Chevaliers in the Ordre des Coteaux Champagne at the Georges X in Paris. Sabra is also a Knight in the Ordine Dei Cavalieri del Tartufo e Dei Vini di Alba and the NY Chapter’s Wine Committee Chair.
